My Name is Seykang Nanpou and I live in Japan. I paint Buddhist images. Please visit my blog to see one of my painteings from start to finish. I hope you enjoy it. A Buddhist painting private exhibition プロフィールに貼り付ける | もっと見る 南法聖観（Seikang Nanpou) Born in 1951 "Buddhism Painting, Transmission from Avalokitesva" On April 3, 1980, at the age of 28, I was given my talent for painting by the Kannon (priest) of a very important Temple in Japan. From that day on, I have been able to use my talents to influence the destiny of others. Four years later I saw The Mandala for first time. I was so spellbound by it's beauty and spiritual power that I decided to paint Buddhist images. I have not studied from professors or masters. I am self taught. To become a Buddhist painter, it is customary to copy pictures from the past. "Shabutsu" in Japanese. My paintings, however; are brand new and unique, without parallel in the world. The strong appeal of my paintings is the bright and vivid color. I use powdered mineral pigments and Japanese art paints. I also use pure gold and silver leaf in some of my paintings so that my paintings look more ornamental and elegant compared to other Buddhist paintings. First, I make a preliminary sketch on Japanese paper, this is my canvas and by mixing a glue paint with my original method I can create bright colors that will not fade through the years. Through the use of details, brilliant colors and a sensitivity inspired by the colors of the four seasons I am able to create these inspirational works. Because of God's affection, love and the teachings of the priests I am able to paint images that I hope will touch people's hearts and continue to inspire for generations to come. |
