THE "SERIOUS" BIO: Originally from Philadelphia, USA, Davina Robinson is a working musician based in Osaka, Japan. She has performed solo, as a duo and with bands in a variety of genres. She has been featured on Japanese radio stations, and has won honorable mention in the Billboard Song Contest, was a runner-up in the VH-1 Song Of the Year Contest and was a semi-finalist in the UK Songwriting Competition. Davina's edgy style of rock complements her rich voice and soulful delivery. With her proven songwriting skills and powerful vocals, this "rock n roll soul" singer is branching out into the international scene with her debut on the compilation CDs Violet Femmes Vol.1 and Females On Fire Vol.3, and with more to come. I'm originally from Philadelphia, & I live in JAPAN, specifically, the cramped and overpopulated concrete jungle metropolis known as Osaka. It definitely has character, unlike any other Japanese city. Osakans love to EAT, DRINK and LAUGH, so if you're not into those 3 things, don't bother. If you're wondering about my ethnicity: ITALIAN on my mother's side (her parents came from Abruzzo, Italy); AFRICAN-AMERICAN, CHEROKEE, BLACKFOOT and ENGLISH on my father's side. I grew up listening to all kinds of music - jazz, blues, soul, country, r&b, disco, oldies, pop, rock, heavy metal, hip-hop. And at times I find myself craving classical. Weird, yes, but all music is connected, just as all people are. I play in a couple of bands for FUN, and I sing at parties, events, weddings, etc. as my JOB. What can I say? I LOVE to fuckin' sing! (Sorry, but a simple "I love to sing" just won't do.) It's taken a while for me to get my original songs together. I'd get them arranged, then wouldn't like the arrangement, get a different arranger, blah blah blah. Shit happens, you know? Now everything's finally coming together. I'm looking to RETURN TO THE STATES, or wherever my songs take me. |

THE LITTLE TIDBITS.....I'm a CAPRICORN. Birthday is JANUARY 1; yes, New Year's Day. I was actually born at night, though. Typical. I'm a night owl.....my left ear is PIERCED 6 TIMES, and my right ear once. No particular reason why. Nose used to be pierced. No plans for further piercings, no tongues, nipples, nothin'. Admire those who do, though.....I have 3 TATTOOS; one on each arm & one on my back. Currently planning/designing my fourth...and fifth...and sixth. (It's addictive.)....I am a MAC(INTOSH) person. Need I say more?....I go through HAIRSTYLES like I go through underwire bras. Check out my photos; you'll see what I mean. (About the hair, not the bras.)....clothing-wise, I guess I'm a combination of EDGE & GLAM, occasionally goth. I love black, red, purple, anything studded or glittered or shiny, animal prints, DEMONIA boots/shoes, & any funky platform footwear. (Cuz I'm a shrimp, basically.)....despite my height "deficiency," I wear SIZE 10 (wide!) shoes. Go figure.....I can play the GUITAR a little, not that well, but I try. During a lesson, I can be heard saying, "I CAN'T PLAY WITH THESE TITS IN MY WAY!!!", and other lovely rhymes. Fortunately my guitar teacher doesn't speak English. But he does laugh when I say "fuck!"....I've had PETS all my life; mostly cats. Earlier this year my 10-yr-old cat died. That was a real shock, because he was so healthy. I've also had dogs, birds, fish and mice(!). I'd wanted a snake but Mom wouldn't allow it. Wonder why. (Ryoma, my cat.)THANKS FOR STOPPING BY!
