I'd like to meet:Bassment started, funnily enough, in the basement of Reading's Po Na Na club on a Wednesday night in October 2004, with John B + Sub Focus headlining and entry was free! Needless to say, this didn't last long as the venue decided that Rnb + Hiphop was much more popular and kicked us out. So the night moved to the Phatz Bar in Maidenhead, entry was free and the night brought in guest DJs from the surrounding areas such as Greenfly + Neil Macc, Wilsh + Madcap, John B, and guests from further afield such as Deep from Bornemouth. Again, the venue decieded that to replace the busiest night of the month with a trance night would be a sound business idea and again we were homeless for a few months.Then all this changed in July 2007 when The Roof came under new management and we decided we were going to do things properly and get a local dnb scene going again - our first night in the new venue with DJ Friction was rammed and gave us the confidence to push on and keep trying to bring decent quality dnb acts to the home counties and keep the door prices as reasonable as possible.The story so far has been a little bit like this: Jul 07 - DJ Friction Aug 07 - 87.5fm summer party Sep 07 - John B + Bailey Oct 07 - DJ Hype Nov 07 - Commix + Alix Perez Dec 07 - Residents (FREE ENTRY) Jan 08 - Break & Xample Feb 08 - Randall & Blu Mar Ten |
