| SPUR OF THE MOMENT is back with its much anticipated third album release, URBAN RENEWAL, available NOW at www.SpurOfTheMoment.com or select retailers in Washington, DC. Wayne, Kenny and Kevin have once again brought their personal style of urban jazz to music lovers everywhere with another amazing 12 tracks featuring Kim Waters, Bridgette Bryant and award-winning producer Chris "Big Dog" Davis. The band, founded by Wayne Bruce in 1989, has enjoyed local celebrity in the DC metro area ever since, and is now poised to take the rest of the world by storm. The first CD, SPURADDICT, was a local radio favorite, while the second, OUT OF THE SHADOWS, offered a No. 1 single at WHUR, one of the nation's top Urban AC stations. In September URBAN RENEWAL will finally give fans what they've been wanting for years. This newest release comes nearly six years after their last. When asked about the extended period, Kenny says, "URBAN RENEWAL is the best piece of work SPUR has ever come up with. The reason it's taken so long is because the band went through some changes, as all bands do, and we had to figure out a direction that was good and comfortable for us." Wayne adds, "For three years we were on the road with Will Downing and Maysa. Big Dog, Kenny and I produced Streetwise for Kim Waters and Big Dog and I co-produced songs for Maysa, so it was hard to get our own music together."URBAN RENEWAL is filled with a little something for everyone. The danceable "Steps to the Capitol" has a classic groove perfect for DC Hand Dancers, Chicago Steppers and Boppers from coast to coast. "Just For You" featuring vocals by Bridgette Bryant, is an infectious track that has you singing along and bobbing your head before you even know all the lyrics. "Food for the Dog" is the perfect smooth jazz track, with a piano feature that's both funky and elegant with a touch of flute as icing on the cake. Interestingly, Kenny explains how that song came about, "Food for the Dog came out of nowhere. It was supposed to be an interlude. I'd actually put the groove together intending to give it to Gerald Albright, but once Big Dog got his hands on it, it became a song; we gave it to him and let him feast, hence the title." SPUR'S keyboardist, Kenny Allen, shows off his vocal chops on the ballad "Candle Light" that's an Urban AC smash waiting to happen. Another key track on the album is SPUR'S version of Steve Perry's "Foolish Heart." They've reconstructed this mellow offering with a standout piano lead that finishes with a fresh lift. The title track, "Urban Renewal" is a melodic, mid-tempo tune perfect for that peaceful ride on a hot summer day or a cool autumn night. Rounding out Urban Renewal are "You and Me," "Maybe We Can Get Together," "Nitakungodea Milele (I Will Be Here For You)," which has always been a favorite of Kevin's, "Let It Flow," "Roll Credit" and SPUR'S interpretation of Ashanti's "Rain on Me," all of which you have to hear to believe. The extremely talented Wayne Bruce (guitar), Kenny Allen (keys and vocals) and Kevin Prince (percussion) have been writing and performing together for years as SPUR OF THE MOMENT in addition to having been a backing band for the likes of Will Downing, Al Jarreau, Patty Austin, Glen Jones, Phil Perry, Maysa, Walter Beasley, Angela Bofill, Gerald Albright and George Benson to name just a few. As composers, lyricists, arrangers, musicians and vocalists, SPUR OF THE MOMENT is a force to be reckoned with in today's music world.URBAN RENEWAL is 12 tracks strong with everything you need to have a good time with friends or that special someone; they provide the music, you provide the mood. Get ready to rejuvenate your spirit and renew your soul with SPUR OF THE MOMENT and URBAN RENEWAL.*****VISIT WWW.SPUROFTHEMOMENT.COM TO GET YOUR CD TODAY!!!***** | |
