The Video Above, Was John's Last Concert With The World Famous Stamps Quartet, on April 5th 2008. Although he Loves Ed like an older brother and John will miss singing with The Stamps, He felt that is was time to move on and move forward with his music ministry in a newer direction. For those of you that don't know John very well, he can Not and Will Not just sing to collect a paycheck as an "entertainer", as some would say. If that be the case, John would still be singing secular music...not Christian/ Progressive Gospel Music. John J. McCall was born on January 24th, 1972 in Columbus Ohio and was raised in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. He has been singing since the age of four and started harmonizing by the age of six. Being around the Church choir most of his life was a big help in his music and a good foundation to start, for what has become a powerful and distinct vocal to include him among top vocalist in the world. Throughout John’s childhood he won numerous awards for his talent, until an almost tragic accident stopped him dead in his tracks at just the age of 17. In 1989, John was singing secular music, against his mother’s requests, with one of Chicago’s top Rock bands at the time, SlyFoXX, as the lead singer. Little did He know that everything he had worked for, and built, would come to an end one cold October night… A drunk 16 year old driver pulled out in front of John and stopped while she was making a left turn at an intersection. The results were very tragic at the time. John not only hit the driver, but while flying through the air was clipped by a cube truck and through him fifty feet back over the collision. John had dislocated his left hip, severed his bones and tendons in his right wrist, broke numerous ribs and had severe swelling in his head. He was pronounced DOA on the way to the hospital and the doctors worked on John for an hour before calling him and as the nurse tagged his toe he awoke. While in a coma for the next few weeks the Doctors told John’s parents that if he were to even have somewhat of a recovery he would most likely not be able to walk, talk, or sing again and would have severe brain damage. Well, 19 years later you would never know John was on his death bed and what a life changing experience it was for him. Since then, John has given his life completely to the one who gave him his Powerhouse voice in the first place…Jesus, something his mother had been praying for, for years. Since then, John has sang at numerous churches sharing his life changing events and for the last few years was singing with “For The Master Quartet” as their Tenor in Nebraska singing about 134 concerts a year. John has sung with Southern Gospel’s great, Michael English in concert in 2006 and has recently moved to Middle Tennessee to pursue his long awaited career in The Southern Gospel Industry. John is actively looking for a full-time Quartet, Trio, or a financial backer so he can shine his powerful vocals and share his wonderful testimony of how God’s grace and mercy worked miracles in both John’s life as well as it has changed thousands of youth and adults alike in understanding that God is truly the one in control of everything we do. Until April 8th, 2008, John was the full time Tenor with The Legendary STAMPS QUARTET, who will be celebrating their 85th Year singing Gospel Music in 2009. John quotes; "What an honor to be with such a great group. Mr. Ed Enoch was such a great person to work with! We see eye to eye on a lot of things and I would give that man the shirt off my back. However, Ed's Love for Gospel Music and his passion for helping the lost will not be a blessing to anyone until the foul language stops behind the scenes. All we can do as good Christians is please pray for Ed and his new group. None of us are perfect, but when you are in the Christian music industry, please don't ever take God's name in vein, then go out on stage and sing unto Him with blinking an eye". John will be focusing on our future generations and on a much larger scale with more Adult Contemporary/Progressive Christian/Gospel music very soon. John’s calling is to be a fisher of man and he can deliver a message, through song, that puts him in the top one percent of many great artists. His addition to the Gospel Music Industry will surely be one to remember in years to come. John is married and has a wonderful wife, Kimberly, and five beautiful children who have already started to enjoy singing and quotes; “There is nothing better in this life than having a family, singing for Jesus, and sharing His love with them and thousands of fans World Wide. I wouldn’t trade that for anything”.
