| As I served in the 1982 Falklands War, I feel very strongly that it should be marked in a fitting and appropriate way. 252 British servicemen died during the fighting, and 3 Falkland Islanders also died.A number of events have been arranged to commemorate the anniversary around the UK, with a national service of remembrance and march past taking place in London on 17th June, which I will be attending along with my son Len.I AM VERY ANNOYED AND DISAPPOINTED THAT MY HOME CITY OF MANCHESTER HAVE ARRANGED PRACTICALY NOTHING, THE CITY COUNCIL HAVE NOT EVEN BOTHERED TO ANSWER MY QUERIES.The RBL are holding a service in Manchester Cathedral, the Manchester Military Tattoo are donating proceeds from this year's tattoo to SAMA 82, and the Imperial War Museum North have been running a display and series of lectures.BUT MANCHESTER CITY COUNCIL HAVE DONE ABSOLUTELY ZERO. PRIVATE MARK FLETCHER DIED DURING THE BATTLE FOR GOOSE GREEN. HE DIED TRYING TO SAVE THE LIFE OF A FRIEND, TONY CORK, WHO SADLY DID NOT SURVIVE. MARK WAS ONE OF 'MANCHESTER'S SONS', AND YET HIS SACRIFICE MEANS NOTHING TO THEM. IN HIS NAME, AND IN THE NAME OF ALL MANCHESTER LADS WHO SERVED DURING THE WAR, I WILL BADGER THE CITY COUNCIL UNTIL THEY DO THE RIGHT THING BY IT'S HEROES. | |

Music:Almost everything: classical especially baroque, some 60's, most 70's, practically all the 80's, some britpop and indie, Pink Floyd, The Stranglers (vastly under-rated, have you listened to them?), Portishead. My philosophy is 'suck it and see' |

Movies:Yanks (or do you mean films I've seen?) Again, I like a mix. Predictably action and war movies, especially if well made and acted, a lot of the old British made classics from the 50's and 60's and the old Ealing comedies. Films that show a halcyon England where I grew up, and honour counted for something. |

Television:Funny: Scrubs, Buzzcocks. Intrigue: CSI and offshoots, Bones Educational: almost anything on channel 12 freeview |

Books:Discworld, historical adventure (Sharpe, Hornblower etc), Action, war etc. |
