| RECTUS est un groupe perpignanais qui fêtera ses 12 ou 13 ans l’année prochaine, ou celle d’après. A l’origine, il était constitué de Pierre Baradel(batterie), Luc Devot(guitare) et Philippe Couet dit Félipé(basse). Le tout premier morceau de RECTUS, « Bib nervious song », portait principalement l’empreinte de NOMEANSNO. --C’est à cette époque que nous avons découvert RUINS. Ce fut pour nous une véritable révélation. Il nous était désormais impossible de concevoir des morceaux binaires, répétitifs ou conventionnels. Au fil du temps, notre attrait pour la musique industrielle de EINSTURZENDE NEUBAUTEN nous poussa à ajouter des objets insolites en guise d’instrument (tyrolienne, perceuse, tambour de machine à laver, pot d’échappement ). L’apogée de ces intégrations fut l’arrivée d’un charriot de supermarché qui fut vite customisé à l’aide d’un chauffe eau entièrement désossé, des plaques latérales d’une gazinière et de quelques ressorts. Cette machine infernale nous suit depuis bien 10 ans. Elle fut vite accompagnée par une meuleuse qui apporte au concert, en plus de sons semblables aux hurlements s’échappants d’une chambre de torture, un petit effet pyrotechnique du plus bel effet. Vincent Torguet nous rejoint et nous accompagne de sa clarinette durant à peut prés quatre ans. Quelques enregistrement de cette époque existe mais ne sont jamais sortis officiellement. Au fil des années, nous rencontrâmes nombres de groupes tel que RUINS, The EX, ACID MOTHER TEMPLE, PSYCHIC PARAMOUNT, CHEVAL DE FRISE, KOURGANE, CAMP BLACKFOOT, UZ JSME DOMA, J.L COSTES...Tous étonnés de ne jamais avoir entendu parler de nous. Tatsuya Yoshida aurait même confié à Frank Stoffer(sonore) que RECTUS fut le groupe qu’il avait préféré sur leur tournée européenne de 2001. Ca fait maintenant 5 ans que Félipé nous a quitté pour vivre sa vie et cinq ans que Lipeul le remplace. Ce changement a considérablement transformé la musique de RECTUS. En effet, les principales influences de Félipé était MAGMA et THE EX. Pour Lipeul ce serait plutot SONIC YOUTH ou KING CRIMSON. Cela a apporté un coté un peu plus noise à notre musique que certains qualifies de « hard zeul »ou« jazz-core».-- RECTUS had been created in Perpignan (South of France) around 1996 by one drummer, one guitarist & one bassit, all mainly influenced by NO MEANS NO. Very quickly, they had a revelation discovering the japan band RUINS; from now on, it is completely impossible for RECTUS to write a repetitive or classic binary song! Furthermore, the three frenchies enjoyed the industrial music of EINSTURZENDE NEUBAUTEN & start using unusual objects by way of instrument (drill, drum of washer, muffler...). For 10 years now an inferna machine - a shopping trolley girded with steal plate & springs!- is strongly used during the RECTUS’ show. A buffwheel is also « played » during the gig, producing not only weirds & rare sounds but also an amazing pyrotechnic performance! The bassist changed in 2001, improving the sound of Rectus by his noise influences (Sonic Youth, King Crimson...).In more than 10 years, RECTUS shared the stage with the best band of the noise & free jazz scene as RUINS, ACID MOTHER TEMPLE, The EX, PSYCHIC PARMAOUNT, CHEVAL de FRISE, COURGANE or CAMP BLACKFOOT... Most of them were really astonished by RECTUS, as Tatsuya Yoshida from RUINS who have convided to Frank Stoffer (Sonore) that RECTUS has been his favorite band met during the 2001 European tour!In 2007 RECTUS remains a real UFO, preaching for its "Hard-zeul" or "Jazz-Core".
