| Sometimes, it just takes a bit longer to hear one’s calling. Little did Schuller Gaillard know that while growing up in Far Rockaway, Queens, in 1993, at the age of 12, he would hear his. That was when he first tried to deejay, not returning to the turntables until age 17. Though Schuller became frustrated, he continued to buy records and fate led him right back to it. At 23, while working as a dancer for an entertainment company, he couldn’t let his feet have all the fun and, with the help of his good friend DJ Chachi, he started to take deejaying more seriously. At that moment, DJ Schuller heard that call, loud and clear. He says, “It’s never too late to pursue a passion.” And what a passion he has.Only actively deejaying for a few years, it’s awe-inspiring to see how far he has come leaving his mark every inch of the way at so many NYC hotspots including his residencies at Home, Guesthouse, Stereo, and Tenjune. In addition, he has guest deejayed at top clubs Marquee, Myst, Pacha, Arena, Mur.Mur at the Borgata in Atlantic City, Vanguard in LA, Bed and The Sagamore in South Beach.No matter the size of the party, Schuller is sure to bring his wide range of music from all decades, some rock, tons of dance, pop and hip hop. Growing up, he recalls, “I grew up listening to 90s hip hop and funk master flex on the radio, and I still jam to Lords of the Underground, Digable Planets, Onyx, Tribe Called Quest and my favorite of all time is Aaliyah; I’m obsessed with her and her voice.”With his talent that is sure to set the tone for those aspiring deejays of today, it is obvious that people will be taken with him. Already having deejayed for some of Hollywood’s elite such as Jessica Alba, Terrence Howard, Beyonce, Jay Z, Shaquille O’Neal, Kelly Clarkson, Ashlee Simpson, and Chris Brown at such events as the Transformers premiere, Awake premiere, and Kelly Rowland’s album release party, it is clear that there is a new man in town. It’s no wonder that Hugh Jackman even personally thanked him for deejaying one of his parties.But in order to get where DJ Schuller is today, he couldn’t have done it without the help of his friends and family. “It sounds cliché but my mom always accepted my life decisions and would always tell me, ‘As long as it makes you happy,’” he explains. His Sister and his two brothers Ed and James also always knew and believed in him. And, of course, DJ Chachi, who unleashed Schuller, knew he was ready to do what he does best – deejay.He hopes to emulate his DJ idols: Chachi, Riz, Vice , Homicide, Klever, Sizzahands and Spinbad. And the best advice given to him that was passed down from DJ Chachi by Sizzahandz is, “Even if there are five people or 5,000, always kill it.”One thing is certain, Schuller kills it every time.
