| Born into a music lover family, i began meanwhile to play guitar very late. I started around 19 years old after have discovered the miraculous Edward Van Halen. But i renounced fairly quick, at 21, after have listened to, maybe too much, Jimi Hendrix & Frank Zappa. Especially, the incredible Jimi's ability for blues improvisation, & the lives recording Zappa's Shut Up 'n Player Guitar, totally discouraged me. I was totally inhibited. Not by the technics, but by the way they gave voice & original style to emotion. Even if i listened to music every day, it has taken to me several years to find again the wish & the courage to play guitar. I really started to work the six strings at 30 years old, after have found the click listening to Stevie Ray Vaughan, & the Joe Satriani red album. Obviously, there was a life & a musical life after too many drugs & Hendrix. Maybe it will sound silly. But it is. At last relieved one's inhibitions, i worked hard & practiced every day. After have met face to face the rare mutant of guitar Roy Marchbank, & the very classy Matthew Sear, i found the definitive determination to work harder & harder. Curiously, my playing is now very far from Hendrix school, even if it has been my biggest constraint. Trying to combine different influences, i dare to hope that i'm forging my own style. To me, the greatest model, on the artistic & human points is the alive king of Stratocaster, Jeff Beck. I'm now 37 years old, & even if i keep intact my love for guitar, acoustic as electric, i'm more & more interested by Bass.Eternal respect to Django Reinhardt. | |
