About Me |
|
| Born through an ever exciting mixture of boredom and whimsy the Rosie Taylor Project take country, folk, indie, and pop melodies to fill the listener with summery nostalgia. The soft, melodic tones of this all too attractive group have been flowing quietly from a cosy corner of Leeds for a short, but wonderful period.
The various members brought with them a menagerie of influences, engulfing all aspects of the musical spectrum. However it was soon decided that they should just try and sound a bit like Ryan Adams, you know just for a bit, at least until they found their feet, you know how it is. This choice led to scandalous rumours flying around the internet that we were just a rip off British version of said Ryan Adams, when in fact we don't sound a lot like him no matter how hard we try JONNY: Introverted type with penchant for the colour brown, wishes Samm would admit he only reads Steinbeck novels SAMM: This good looking and charming character truly represents what the Rosie Taylor Project is all about, namely he's as simple as it gets but somehow it works. SOPHIE: Is not Rosie, however much she'd like to be. Also she brings the trumpet which makes everyone smile, and clap, and join hands to forget their differences and dance round lush green meadows, at least that's the intention. NICK: Nick puts the bass into basic... a pun that only really works if you say it rather than read it. JOEL: Fluffy haired bringer-of-noise, this man is never seen without his duffle coat. He also enjoys breaking out into frequent jazz-funk interludes much to the despair of Jonny. JON: Makes Fudge! Releases Our debut album "This City Draws Maps" is out now on Bad Sneakers Records. Compelling.” Music-dash.co.uk "‘This City Draws Maps’ is a heartbreakingly romantic record of acoustic lullabies and soft, hushed vocals that give you goose bumps all over and a serious case of the shivers" http://neonbuzzmagazine.blogspot.com “These are tender optimistic songs about acceptance of life's ups and downs, sincere and self-assured.” Sandman Magazine (April) “At times electric guitars melt into the sound, making them sound like Iron & Wine meets Nick Drake's orchestration on Brighter Layter. This isn't twee Englishishness but good story writing layered over strong blues roots, leaving you quietly optimistic." Sophie Kemp Sandman Magazine “…they play delicate sounds of astounding beauty that have left me near speechless.” Neal Addison Sandman Magazine “The Rosie Taylor Project - playful... bashful... soulful...never woeful...WONDERFUL!" Marc Riley, 6 Music "From this start The Rosie Taylor Project are masters in gentle respite and warmth, a craft sounding like Nick Drake in romantic company, stopping over for a week at Stuart Staples' French cottage with a shitload of wine." High Voltage "A more polite version of arab strap" Johnny Ersatz-Culture, Sandman Magazine "an intimate style that echoes the emotional drama of iLiKETRAiNS and the downbeat alt-country ways of Iron & Wine or Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy" Bearded Magazine Record Label: Bad Sneakers Records Type of Label: Indie |
