Hello, my name is Andra. Babydoll is a nickname, I got while living in London many years ago, when I was 22. Because of my undying love for little vintage dresses, plastic flowers and red lipstick, the name kind of stuck, and so did my age. See, I refuse to grow up, shying away from any real work, or responsibility, doing only fun things like entertaining people and being my creative self. I've been singing and/or playing guitar in bands for many years, and now I'm writing and recording songs completely on my own, ready to form a new band, but I'm still looking for a drummer. I've also been DJing for 11 years now, in about every venue in town, my DJ gigs will be posted in the calendar below. Sorry stalkers, only friends can see that! ;) Art, of the low-brow and trashy kind, is my other obsession, and I've made comics, posters, fanzines, sculptures, T-Shirts, collages, installations and paintings, most of them can be seen on my pictures page. Also check out my blog, called Synapses Collapses, which is all about silly nonsense and evil satire. I've also performed live, with my bands, or on my own, doing burlesque, or satires on performance art and poetry readings. At the moment, I'm learning some live sound engineering and html coding, because I need to find even more ways to express myself. If you think, that's all pretty impressive, I should let you know, that I have Asperger Syndrome, and if you have been supporting the idea, that Autism Spectrum Disorders can, or should be cured, think again. I have met, on- or offline, a lot of people on the spectrum, not one of them wants to be cured. We may need some help, coping with everyday life, or socialising, but our brains are beautiful, no reason to get jealous! A cure for Autism will just drag us into an ugly pit of mediocrity. |
