About Me

Vin Cin started playing guitar when he was 13 years old. By the age of 21 he was playing the lower Manhattan club circuit including CBGB’s and Great Gildersleeves, as well as Brooklyn area clubs such as Zappas and L’amour. He worked his way up, fronting his own band “The Insiders” playing Irving Plaza,NYC in support of his single (vinyl!) entitled “I Don’t Want To Know”.From that point he began to gravitate to the early 80’s punk scene, playing in “The Hypocrites”, gigging in NYC and getting on a few compilation albums all the while getting interested in the studio/recording aspect of the business. Toward the end of that time, about 1985 or so, he started working in studios, first as an assistant and on to becoming a full fledged engineer. By 1987 he became involved in the studio he now owns and runs, Electric Plant Studios. He continued playing in bands, sometimes 3 or 4 at a time, most notable were “No Justice” and “The Disasters” which he produced as well. As recently as 1999 he went on a short tour of Germany working with Goth/Metal band Type O Negative.Electric Plant, the name borrowed from famous NYC studios “Electric Lady” and “Record Plant”, has served as a landmark to many local as well a regional bands, attracting such artists as Dee Dee Ramone, The Lunachicks, Slick Pelt/Michael Louis, Wilson Herera of “Rent” as well as Jamie Saft on the 2006 Oscar nominated documentary “Murderball” soundtrack, 2006 Sundance jury prize winner “Bugcrush” soundtrack and many others. Clients that work with him often say they are inspired by his earthy, honest, matter of fact style of engineering/producing. He has worked with all genres of music from rock to raggae, punk to pop, latin, jazz, country, rockabilly, blues, swing and any other type of live music you can throw at him. He treats all musicians with the same level of respect and professionalism regardless of their experience. He believes in performance for it’s own sake, trying to capture not just music but a moment in time. He looks forward to working with new bands, as well as his alumni of past clients, wishing them all great success. If you just want to talk music, find out about the studio, or his services as a producer, just call Electric Plant Studios any evening at 718-338-3263. He would be more than happy to oblige.
