Brother Justin

North Carolina native and Asheville resident Justin Devito made his Dubatomic Particles debut on October 21st, 2007.

A musician by trade, Justin plays keyboards and melodica with roots reggae band Chalwa. He likens choosing selections to performing live: “Music is an expression of mood, any particular moment, feeling, or experience can be expressed musically. So any one song is also a culmination of a given moment in time. For I n I performing or choosing a selection is like realizing the fullness of that moment and expressing it with a song.”

Fascinated by the golden era of Jamaican session musicians, Justin is glad to be a part of the local reggae community. “I give thanks for life everyday, for guidance and for the blessing that is my family; my beautiful son Waylon Marcus and my wife Lyndsi.”

Papatrent

Papatrent has been on the radio in and around the western Carolinas for many years. He also has his own business working as a DJ at parties and other special events.

Papatrent has been part of the WNCW broadcast team since 1995. He discovered WNCW from his dorm room in Greenwood, SC on the farthest end of the signal's reach back in 1990. Trent slowly made his way to the station through an internship at USC-Spartanburg 11 years ago and remains actively involved today as a member of the Dubatomic Particles broadcast team.

"I came into reggae just like most folks do - through Marley and Tosh, etc. My first love was the Grateful Dead but I really came into reggae as the years went on. D-Triple-J (one of the original Dub hosts) offered me a position as one of the revolving hosts of the show and I took it."

"Since then I have learned more and more about reggae each day. I tend to gravitate to the roots and early stuff - I love roots, ska, rock steady and dub. But, I have learned alot on the job and am proud to do the show with wonderful people like Timothy, Christopher, Ras Marley, and Justin."

Ras Christopher Liontree

Ras Christopher Liontree joined the Dubatomic Particles broadcast in 2000. Also a selector with Deep Roots Soundsystem, Ras Christopher and his wife Debra run an Asheville-area non-profit called Motherland International Relations which facilitates educational service trips to Ghana, Senegal, Kenya, and Ethiopia.

Prior to joining the Dubatomic Particles team, Christopher hosted a show on Guilford College's 90.9 WQFS. The father of two girls - Jahniya and Ondessa - Ras Christopher is who you're most likely listening to when you hear the words of Rastafari spun atop a dub selection.

Rastaman Marley

Hailing from the "Carry-beyond" is Ras Miles Jacob Marley. While having frequented the North Carolina area in the last few years, he is a newly planted seed in the Asheville area Rastafarian Community.

Ras Marley, along with his wife Sista Karen, are cofounders of The Rastafarian UniverSoul Order - a prison ministry fellowship representing Rastafarian inmates throughout the United States.

Rastaman Marley was the host of the Roots Revelation Reggae show on 91.5-FM KRCC (Colorado Springs, Colorado) back in the mid to late 1990's. Ras Marley joined the Dubatomic Particles program in October of 2007.

Selector Timothy

Selector Timothy joined the Dubatomic Particles broadcast in March of 2003. Father, Son, Husband, Brother, Friend, Selector Timothy also works as a selector with the Deep Roots Soundsystem, and from time to time with One World Global Sound.

Prior to his work on Dubatomic Particles, Timothy hosted a Friday night broadcast at Western Carolina University called The Reggae 120 Show.

"Vibes are what I come to share. I'm a record collector who is much more interested in expanding your understanding of reggae music, than offering up the status quo. We'll deal with some crucial roots, but we'll also deal with what's grown from those roots over the past 40 or so years."

Timothy is the proud father of Maya Rejoice and Padme Joy. Timothy is the proud husband of Elise. You can find Timothy spinning at Thursday's ROOTS DUB REGGAE at Hookah Joe's in Asheville.
