Stella Polaris was introduced in Århus in 1997 and is the biggest outdoor chill-out event in Denmark taking place the first weekend of August. Since 1997 Stella Polaris has taken place in Århus at the Vennelyst Parken and was introduced in Copenhagen in 2001. After two successful events in Frederiksberg Have the chill-out event moved to Østre Anlæg at Statens Museum for Kunst, Copenhagen, where the event also is located in 2009. The concept is simply to present atmospheric electronic music in green, sunny spaces. The musical approach of Stella Polaris is based on chill-out music. Chill-out is electronic music emphasising sound expanses. Most other electronic genres emphasise a strong rhythm but in chill-out the rhythmic element is secondary. That is why this genre is perfect for outdoor events because the atmospheric music is a perfect match for the surrounding scenery. The event is 100 per cent non-profitable. There is no admission and the event is for people of all ages, though most visitors are somewhere between 20 and 30 years old. The project is financed exclusively by funds, sponsorships and voluntary work. |
