Biography DJ Sumfin has always loved music with an undying passion. From the age of 8 years old this DJ became attracted to Hip-Hop and R&B. As a child he would make a compilation of music videos played on ‘iDTV’ ,’ The Box’ and ‘MTV’ to watch them over and over again, analysing lyrics. 2000- Inspired by older brother DJ Devine, he practiced on his brothers Technics 1210s. Using 2-step garage, he learnt the basics of beat matching, smooth mixing and chopping. Within six months he had mastered these mixing techniques. Thriving for a challenge this DJ started to incorporate Drum and Bass music into his set. As Time went by his interest in garage music declined and his first love for Hip-Hop and R&B excelled. Listening to DJs such as DJ Devine, Funk Master Flex, and DJ Rectangle motivated him further. 2001 – His first taste of DJing live was for the school’s prom night. After watching DMC 2001 in amazement he once again recorded and analysed each set in depth. He loved what he saw and decided to expand on his skills. He set his goals towards Hip-Hop and R&B in addition to learning how to become a turntablist. 2002 – 2003 - Began mixing R&B & Hip-Hop, favourite type of music. Occasionally Bringing in Bashment, Garage and D&B. Learnt basic to advanced Scratching, Beat-Juggling and live Remixing skills. 2004 – 2nd place in the Westminster University Juice DJ Competition. 2005 – Began mixing in small Bars and clubs to expand on experience and confidence. 2006 – Built up his reputation for mixing in clubs. 2007 – Went on Radio and received major positive feedback from listeners @ Hav It FM. Also the 50 missed call reload show’ was a hot favourite. Playing alongside DJ Sir Juice they both were mixing and scratching the freshest urban cuts. 2008 – Gained work at SEone (Londons Largest Night Club). Furthermore he is working with Turkish Rapper AK09 for production for his new album. In addition to this he has been approached to join two successful Hip-Hop Record companies in New York and Spain through his YouTube videos. |
