| ARTIST BIOGianni De Chellis, Lanciano (Italy) based guitarist, plays guitar since 11 years of age.
He began studying classical guitar under professor Sandro Torlontano's direction.
Then, Gianni De Chellis moved further to explore the electric guitar's techniques,through different local teachers.
Finally he specialized at the Wien's branch (Austria) of notorius AIM (American institute of music) from 1991 to 1993.
He got trained by Les Wise,Waine Brasel,Todd Duane,Milan Polack and many others.
He joined seminaries held by Frank Gambale,Jennifer Batten,Neal Schon,Joe Tafolla.
In 1991 Gianni De Chellis won a prestigious
award: Venice's Golden lion (leone d'oro di Venezia).
He won the 1st prize in the instrumental music category.
In 1993 Gianni De Chellis played across Venice province in a variety of gigs.
He then became an established teacher and lecturer.
Gianni De Chellis worked as session musician for local stars as Drupi e others.
Ana Bettz offered Gianni De Chellis a chance to work with Mark Harris,Alfredo Paixao,Maxx Furian.
Electric guitar techniques videos e manuals dvds were released as follows:
2001 : "Playing in the Steve Vai style" ;
2002 : "Techniques of the whammy bar in the rock guitar" ;
2003 : "Playing in the John Petrucci style".
In 2004 Gianni De Chellis won the 1st prize in the "Tribute to George Harrison" contest launched by guitars magazine (CHITARRE).
A CD compilation listing Gianni De Chellis between all virtuoso guitarist in the contest followed afterwards.
At present Gianni De Chellis is in the charge of electric guitar techniques column for guitars magazine.MUSIC CAREERGianni De Chellis project started in 1998, founded by guitarist Gianni De Chellis.
The trio included Gianni De Chellis (guitars), Giuliano De Leonardis (bass) and Carlo Porfilio (drums) and proposed rock instrumental music under different influences, from fusion to eastern sounds.
The "Gianni De Chellis project" band initially played Vai & Satriani covers to get heard.
Gradually,original pieces were included in the band's repertory and this lead to the first self-produced cd "War of the senses" (La guerra dei sensi).
Several concerts supported the cd release in 2001, and many musicians & critics in the field appreciated the band's work.After a line up change, Gianni De Chellis started intense cover band sessions, playing rock classic songs in live venues.
Ultimately, Gianni De Chellis came up with new instrumental pieces and a whole new cd,
this time a solo album.
