| Growing up his whole life in the South Bronx, Pun had been surrounded by the hip hop cultures since its existence. From Writing to boogie to even breaking, Big Pun lived his life to the fullest. His first experience of hip hop was seeing Crazy Legs and Rock Steady breakdancing. He was also heavily into basketball and boxing. Spending most of his time by working out.Big Pun was also know as Big Moon Dog. Chasing fast money in the crack game in order to put food on the table. Not only was he able to feed his growing family, he ate until he couldn’t tie his shoelaces. In almost four years, Pun nearly doubled his weight.Big Punisher moved out of his mother’s Soundview apartment at an early age of 15 and dropping out of Stevenson High School after his first year, Pun fed his imagination with a desire to learn on his own. Most of his time was being exposed to Catholicism. He was well versed in the bible. Mostly the Punisher liked to spend time at home with his family and listen to R&B. Names like Lou Rawls and Richard Marx come to mind. Listening to music from the past ten years has helped him become one of the greatest emcees to ever grace the mic.Big Pun had plenty of cameos with Fat Joe, whom Pun calls his “twin”. The Punisher was often know for his amazing lyrical gift. Pun’s rhymes would have that knock-out effect. He could battle any so- called underground artist any day of the week. Which such hits such as “Fire Water” Big Pun rips his verse and calls attention to mix tapes. Punisher made many cameos including Fat Joe, Raekwon, Cypress Hill and even made appearances with Bone Thugs’. Aside from his lyrics Pun had that uncanny vocal style which nobody could copy.Pun enters the rap game from a different angle than most rappers. Pun touched rap with a bit of Latino Flavor. Big Puns projects had appearances from today’s artists and producers. Such as Rashad Smith who produced some of Busta Rhymes’ work, and Frank Nitty from the Trackmasteres. Such artists appeared on The Punishers work were the Beatnuts and Fat Joe’s Terror Squad. .. .. | |
