| New Record is coming… Fred has just finished his new, self-titled EP! Collaborating with producers BrianSperber(Moby, Hinder, 3 Doors Down) and Mike Mushok(guitarist from the band Staind), Fred is poised to release his best work yet.“Joined by an All-Star backing band, Shafer delivers these Rock infused Pop songs with veteran precision. Standout tracks like “Breakaway” and “Here I Am” only further showcase Shafer’s uncanny ability to move between rock anthem, classic ballads and catchy pop…all the while, continuing to sound both modern and fresh. Anchoring the strong song selection has to be Shafer’s vocals. Sperber and Mushok successfully traverse the task of highlighting Shafer’s impressive range and power, without sacrificing the subtle nuances of his raspy tenor. “ Set to be released this summer, Fred will be touring behind this record through the end of the year. Complete History: At 25, Fred Shafer is an old soul. Born in Las Vegas, raised throughout the Southwest and Texas, Fred ultimately settled in New York. Shafer’s fatherless, nomadic childhood provides a template for his lyrically driven melodies and emotionally accessible songs. With a voice that harkens to the days of Joe Cocker, Al Green, and Sam Cooke, Fred delivers these heartfelt songs with unparalleled passion. In a time of cookie cutter performers and gimmick bands, Fred relies on the only proven recipe for success: talent combined with an insatiable work ethic. With over 15,000 records sold and music featured in movies and television (The Station Agent, The Shield, UFC), Fred has also been featured in Vanity Fair’s 2003 Music Edition, Billboard Magazine, and Hit Parader, as well as had a music video in rotation on RAGE TV. In addition, several of Fred’s songs have been added to the play lists of over 50 commercial and college radio stations: “It’s All On Me” reached 1 on two of these stations. These songs, together with his emotional and charismatic performances, have afforded Fred the opportunity to share the stage with major acts such as Chuck Berry, Kid Rock, Goo Goo Dolls, Sugar Ray, Staind, Gov’t Mule, Saliva, D12 and many more, all independently. Recently, Fred has also begun to write for other artists (Canadian Idol, Pop Stars), further expanding his resume. After signing with Good Charamel Records in 2003, Fred released “Makin’ Noise” in 2004 with his band, Klear. In between touring and promotion for that record, Fred began writing and recording his debut solo EP, “Truth or Dare” with producer Brent Bodrug (Alanis Morrisette (Maverick/Warner), Jacksoul (BMG), Canadian Idol). After spending 8 of the last 12 months on tour, Fred’s live performances have come to garner even more praise.
