About Me

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: ianrobertson.page.tl
Band Members:

In the words of Joan Armatrading - Me, Myself, I
Featured Songs:
Black is the Colour of my True Love's Hair - An old Love song with many variations from an 18th century English folk song to Southern Appalachian mountain tune, but I prefer to think of it as an old Scottish Love song.
Black is the Colour
..
Wild Mountain Thyme
- Many discussions as to whether this is a song written by an Irishman - Francis McPeake, for his wife or whether it is a song adapted from an old Robert Tannahill Song "The Braes of Balquidder."
Wild Mountain Thyme
..
Solitary Man - A song which is dedicated to Cosmo an Italian who lived on the streets of Edinburgh. Not a beggar but a proud man who just decided that the streets were his home. He came to Edinburgh after the second world war from Italy and never returned. May his soul be back in the land of the sun.
Jock Stewart - Another song claimed by both the Irish and Scottish, however Jock Stewart is a common name amongst Scottish travellers and shows the generosity of spirit, accepting anyone no matter their status
You Can't Sink a Rainbow - Was written after listening to a programme on the radio about the Greenpeace ship Rainbow Warrior which was blown up in New Zealand. On hearing the news one of the original crew remarked "But you can't sink a rainbow" This is dedicated to Fernandez Pereira who died on board.

Influences: I am sure that most music that I have listened to throughout my life has had some influence in one way or another.
My family & close friends.
Going to listen to live performances whether professional or just someone busking in the streets.
The Royal Oak
My favourite place in Edinburgh for music sessions.
Check out their site www.royal-oak-folk.com
