About Me |
|
| Glenn Gillis began his interest for music at the age of 14. At the age of 16, his very first garage band was called "The Flowers" playing hits such as Yummy Yummy, Jumping Jack Flash, Lets Live For Today, Time Won't Let Me,G L O R I A, Crimson And Clover,,ets. But his very first weekend gig was actualy playing bass in a western band, obviously it didn't last very long. After several practices with "The Flowers" they began playing in school dance halls every weekend. Of course the style then was: long hair, patched jeans, and sandles. The sign of peace was everyones slogan. As a year would pass, their popularity flourished and they were asked to play at the first biggest pop festival in Rouyn Noranda. They shared the stage with names such as Aprin Wine, Mashmakan, Higgen's Hill, and meny more.In 1969 they changed their name for "The Crocus Showfall" the band was winning jam contests in Val-Dor their home town and all over Abitibi. Unfortunetly the Band would brake up in 1972, but Glenn was always on the move forming new bands and changing styles from pop, Hard rock: classic Rock, and then trying something new which he fell in love with... BLUES. Of course Blues and Booze go together, but all that suddenly stopped in 1980, Glenn never tuched the stuff after that. In the year 2000 he formed The Corruptibles Abitibi's best blues band. He was asked to play a video topo for a TV program called "Les Chois de Sophie" Télé Québec. Their very first blues festival was in Rouyn Norands www.norandblues.com year 2000. From there Glenn moved to Quebec City forming Glenn Gillis & The Blues Experiment.

Music:Member Since: 9/18/2006Band Website: freewebs.com/glennbluesartist Band Members: Glenn Gillis - Guitar, Lead Vocals Normand Lacroix - Lead Guitar, Vocals René Gignac - Bass, Vocals Barry Nameth - Drums, Vocals-PLEASE VISIT OUR BAND WEBSITE ABOVE !!!!!!!! Influences: Mike Bloomfield, Eric Clapton, Gary Moore, Steve Perry, Albert Collins, B.B.KING, Paul Butterfield Blues band, S.R.V, Colin James, Johny Winter, Jimmy Voghan, Albert King, these are only a tiny few. And the most important about playin and singin the blues, is what comes from your heart and soul, its not how fast you can play. Sounds Like: Glenn Gillis & The Blues Experiment is one of Quebec Canada's most popular blues bands and certainly have to be one of the purist of their kind. Their second album entitled "Bad Times" is already recognized as a success, and their stage performance justifies just that. Each musician carries a load of experience from way back in the seventies. The Blues Experiment surfaced in 2003; initially, Glenn being the only singer/ composer in the band called it: Glenn Gillis & The Blues Experiment. His very first CD came out in 2001, it was a Demo example of 12 compositions entitled, “The Traveler” In 2004, the CD entitled: “The Letter D” was Glenn’s second, and was nominated for best blues CD of that year at the (Lys Blues) gala, which was held at the Club Soda in Montreal. Changes occurred in 2005 with the arrival of two new members Barry Nameth on drums, and “René Gignac” on bass raising theband to another level. After numerous concerts, stage performances, and constantly writing new material, they decided to record another CD; however, this time it was Normand Lacroix, the lead guitarist, who composed the music, and Glenn wrote all the lyrics. This recent project is entitled “Bad Times” and it came out in October 2006. Again in 2007 their cd (BadTimes) was up for nominies for blues cd of the year ------------------------------------------------------------ ----------------------------------------::La formation (Glenn Gillis & The Blues Experiment) a débuté en 2003.
