About Me

With the hot new release, “You Won’t Ever Leave,” sizzling singer-songwriter Tafuri and Swirl Records are poised to set fire to the dance music world. The pulsating vocal track Produced by Steve Skinner and remixed by Eddie Baez, combined with Tafuri’s powerfully soulful vocal performance, is the perfect introduction of this dynamic new dance label. No stranger to success, Tafuri possesses a track record that speaks for itself. Beginning with the international dancefloor and R&B hit “What Am I Gonna Do About Your Love,” Produced by Vertical Hold and remixed by Steve Anderson, the singer quickly marked her territory in the tightly competitive realm of club music. But rather than do the obvious and follow that success up with a similar style, Tafuri chose to challenge herself – in the form of a blazing remake of the Phyllis Hyman disco classic, “You Know How to Love Me.” On the strength of its popularity, Tafuri toured Europe for six months, performing at such prestigious venues as London’s Hammersmith Odeon. With a major label contract and both critical and commercial success, most artists stay in the comfort zone. But Tafuri is the kind of entertainer who insists on authenticity in all that she does – luckily for all of us music addicts! One of the first “dance divas” to regularly record her own material, Tafuri joined forces with a host of revered dance music producers and mixers throughout the 90’s to record an impressive string of independently released underground gems. Working with top-notch talent such as Todd Terry, Jason Nevins, Victor Simonelli, and George Morel, she not only established herself as an in-demand live performer, but also as a songwriter for clubland peers like Joi Cardwell. Additionally, she scored her first crossover hit in the U.S. market with 2001’s “What You Want,” which can be found on DJ Warren Gluck’s Voltage: Hotlanta CD (Centaur Entertainment). In 2003, Tafuri embarked on yet another new musical adventure: exploring the world of jazz. Performing regularly at choice venues in New York City, she has established her as a singer’s singer – running the gamut from pop to jazz, soul to showtunes, all the way back to her pulsating roots in clubland. Which brings us full-circle to the present. Tafuri has spotted another surefire opportunity to expand her musical horizons. Having joined forces with eminent dance-music entrepreneur Frankie C.’s new label, Swirl Records, last year, she was more than eager to start work on new, original dance material. The first result of this musical marriage to be released is the seriously soulful and deliciously danceable new single, “You Won’t Ever Leave.”
