Opalina was born in the great big valley of texas, where there is nothing to do but dream about getting away from there. When she was 1 she was moved to a small suburb of Dallas, Tx called Lancaster. It was pretty much the same way. Then when she was 18 she went to Commerce, TX to drink and taste boys and girls.. (not necessarily in that order) But all in all it was really a place she drempt to get away from. So she left and moved to the desert and had to run away from there for lots of messed up reasons. It was then she found spoken word. Now She's In Dallas. Now She is Home.Opalina has been writing most all of he life, but is lazy so that doesn't account for much volume. She has been performing at open mic poetry in Dallas since 1995. After being heavily involved in the slam scene, She moved on and hosted and featured at many places, all great and sincere places that are mostly defunct now. ( the green room, the dogstar, rockin' java, the donut lady) and has seen lots of friends come and go to various addictions and ennui. Opalina continues to move thru the poetry circuit and was a cohost at Cup of Joes in Arlington, and was a guest co-host at the infamous Mad Swirl readings in Dallas. TX. She has also been published online for the Mad Swirl, and in paperform for Deathlist Five. She is an author of 5 self published chapbooks, the most recent being 'Rattling Keys and Broken Cords' published in 2007. Opalina met Carlos in 96 at the old Dog Star.They have been a force to be reckoned with since.Opalina's believes most in what Jack Kerouac says about writing "Write in recollection and amazement for yourself" MyGen Profile Generator |

Movies:napoleon dynamite, streetcar named desire, night of the iguana, gone with the wind, breakfast at tiffinys, filth and the fury, 24 hour party people,party monster, psycho, pretty in pink, breakfast club, sixteen candles, any 80's film, really.. cant buy me love (hah) oh! hard days night, head, woodstock, uhm..most musicals..im a softy for a good sing-along chorus, i love old ones, singing in the rain is probably my favorite or anchors away. and i love bob hope and bing crosby..oh and white christmas, and holiday inn that is virtually the same movie. dagwood and blondie movies but they are hard to find anywhere..marx brothers. im sure im forgetting all the best.. |
