Mutts is a syndicated cartoon strip that appears in hundreds of newspapers worldwide. Creator Patrick McDonnell’s first strip, featuring best friends Earl (the dog) and Mooch (the cat), appeared on September 5, 1994. In more than 4,000 total strips since then Mutts has dealt with themes ranging from animal protection, love and kindness, art and artists, and withal a steady current that springs from a deep appreciation of nature and the sanctity of all life. McDonnell’s art has been recognized by critics and popular press alike for its distinctive style and strong yet gentle stand on important social issues. Oh, and let’s not forget that it’s funny!
