Punks For Pink is a charitable organization that was originally conceived of in an effort to raise funds and create awareness for Breast Cancer Care, Prevention and Research. Punks For Pink was created to facilitate an avenue of fundraising from, and awareness to, an otherwise unheard of and disenfranchised market segment referred to as “PUNKS”. “PUNKS” are the youth within our communities that don’t subscribe to more contemporary popular markets, the “underground” of popular culture or the “anti-thesis” of pop culture. Our organization’s guiding principal is the open expression, through artistic means, specifically music, in defiance against not only the disease of breast cancer but also the financial burden put upon a "Punks" mother and family in its wake. Punk for Pink’s main objective is to both inspire and empower the youth within our communities that there are alternative and innovative methods in which they can become involved to help raise awareness and make real change. Our Financial Objective is to raise money via an all day Punk Rock Musical Events in Ontario. Dates still To Be Announced Once We Get Any. There is hope. This Site is where we unleash all of our pent up angst in the form of Musical Revolt. This is the training ground for all PUNK bands that wish to enter the fray. This is were we Wage War against Complacency and Self Promotion. If you are that good.. STEP UP. Talk Is one thing ACTION is another. Just as IMPORTANT is our need to educate and to increase awareness. Raising the money is the fun part, awareness is always a little harder to get people motivated for. So we propose to have OUR music do what it has always done, motivate and galvanize us as an instrumental weapon in all Pre-Event Fundraising Activities. We are the PUNKs of our communities, we are scorned and misunderstood. But we do understand this...we are not worthless, we are not unimportant BUT we ARE different, we ARE loud, we ARE ugly, we ARE angry and united we have a voice and that voice is PUNK ROCK. 1. Lay down and place a pillow under your right shoulder. Next, place your right arm under your head. 2. Using your three middle fingers of your left hand, massage your right breast with the pads of your fingers. Check for any lumps or abnormalities. You can move in a circular motion, or up and down. Make sure you use the same motion every month. 3. Continue the motion, extending to the outside of the breast to your underarm. 4. Repeat on left side. 5. Next, repeat exam standing up, with one arm behind your shoulder as you examine each breast. Standing or sitting up allows you to feel the outside of the breast more accurately. 6. For added precaution, stand in front of a mirror and squeeze each nipple. Look for any discharge. 7. Take note of any dimpling, redness or swelling. Expert's project that the number of the new cases of cancer diagnosed each year in Canada will increase by 60 percent over the next two decades. Trends suggest that by 2010 cancer will be the leading cause of death in Canada.
