| Sound 8 Orchestra is Matthias Wyder‘s solo-project. He has been a musician
since the 80ies and played in a variety of bands. He is currently touring as
saxophone player with the upcoming german Band Beatplanet from Berlin
and
as musical accompanist of the swiss theatre company Schauplatz International.The album «Golden Memories» features instrumental electronic Easy-Listening,
retrofuturistic B-Movie-Electro, dubby Low-Budget-Lounge-Music
– slightly psychedelic but never overagitated, with instruments as the Korg
MS 10 and MS 20, synthesizer, organ, guitar, Hawaiian guitar, sampler, laptop
and drum machine. Matthias Wyder lives in Berlin.Sound 8 Orchestra sounds like:
Raymond Scott and Sun Ra working together on a James-Bond-Soundtrack.
Lee Scratch Perry assigned to compose the main theme for a quiz show
with questions about natural sciences.
And Jean-Michel Jarre (if he had some musical taste) locked into a room
having no other choice than to record an album with some crappy old keyboards
and drum machines.
On its first album «Golden Memories», the Sound 8 Orchestra presents a
collection of tunes that went with the projection of Super 8 movies during its
live shows.
The record is released by the swiss label Langusta Entertainment
, distributed
in Switzerland by Rec Rec Medien AG Zurich. The album is available internationally
