About Me |

| The P.A.C.E. (Promoting Academics Through Creative Expression) Program is a non-profit organization based in Los Angeles County. It was created in 2006 to bring Educational Music Entertainment Programs to LA County Middle and Senior High Schools in order to promote the relevance and importance of graduating high school through the medium of live music. The ultimate goal is to reduce the dropout rate in LA County by encouraging participation in local creative outlets and by providing positive, educated role models for students contemplating dropping out. Due to California State budget cuts and No Child Left Behind mandates, LA County has maintained unacceptable dropout rates for the past 5 years.
Through partnerships with local organizations and schools, P.A.C.E. Program has been able to perform in 24 Los Angeles Unified School District schools, which accounts for over 24,000 students.The P.A.C.E. Program is designed to motivate students in the areas of:
• Improved classroom participation
• Higher academic achievement
• Increased participation in local creative outlets
• Educational and personal perseverance
• Character building

School Tour Influences: Los Angles County has 520 middle and 240 high schools that make up 80 school districts and account for 1.7 million students. In 2006, LA County had an unacceptable drop out rate of 17.3%. Due to California State’s high education budget cuts from 2002-2007, a majority of Los Angeles County students are at a disadvantage due to overcrowded classrooms, a lack of extra-curricular activities, and inadequate funding to creative art classes such as band and drama. Sounds Like: Los Angeles County Student Risk Factors *21,629 students dropped out in 2005-2006. *Many schools do not offer after-school and/or creative-based activities. *Reduced counselors and high student-to-teacher ratios have eliminated positive role models. *Studies indicate that dropouts are more likely to engage in high-risk behaviors such as premature sexual activity, early pregnancy, delinquency, crime, violence, alcohol and drug abuse, and suicide. * Governor Schwarzenegger’s proposed 4.4 billion dollar education cut would increase average classroom sizes by 23% and decrease per pupil spending by $664.
