| Popronde 2008: NKS will be joining the Popronde this fall! (www.popronde.nl) Who the %^&* are New Killer Stars New Killer Stars, a wilder beast, throwing flames at you like a dragon. Killing, bringing you to higher levels, making you put your hands on the ears. Love them or hate them. No more pretty boys, no more beautiful emotional lyrics, no more friendly attitudes. Sleazy guys, sleazy guitarriffs and sleazy language. Here's New Killer Stars. New Killer Stars hebben in 2008 op het Eurosonic Festival in Groningen gestaan en deden mee met de Sena Performers POP NL Award in de Melkweg, Amsterdam. Met het nummer "Can't Stop Now" is de band te horen geweest in het landelijke radioprogramma KINK FM. Tevens is de band ook genomineerd geweest als "Beste Friese Nieuwkomer" bij Fries Popnet, samen met Adept, Dead Horse Running en Jean Parlette. Ook staat er een tour door de USA in de planning (in december) en hebben we getekend voor een platencontract bij het platenlabel Coma Gun Records in Asheville, North Carolina. New Killer Stars zijn de winnaars van de Friese Bandcontest 2007, en deden mee met Freesonica 2007/2008. Freesonica is een jaarlijks terugkerend project, waarmee 3 succesvolle Friese bands de kans krijgen om zich te ontwikkelen d.m.v. coaching en optredens. De band is eind 2006 ontstaan in Leeuwarden. Sytse Bloem (toen nog drummer bij Cobra Carnival), vond in Cesar Eisma (bas) en Jelle van Gosliga (drum) de geschikte band voor zijn liedjes, waarbij hij zang en gitaar verzorgd. Het geluid van de band wordt vaak omschreven als "garage" of "punkrock" maar is eigenlijk een mengelmoes van het beste van de jaren 90 en 60/70.
