View RuffCompany Records at Dubmusic Productions RuffCompany Records was started by Mr Errol ( General Smiley ) Bennett and his brotherMr Herman ( Ranking Bird ) Bennett in 1996 with the aim to give the youth in and around the Kingston thirteen community who are intrested in the art of music paticularly DJs and singers a chance to break into the industry. We innitially acruired rythm tracks from some of the best like Sly and Robbie, we had some nice projects going on but then we had a fire and lost most of the original tapes. In two thousand we moved back to California with the intention to continue working towards rebuilding what we had lost, so we registered the company in California and decided to put together a digital recording studio. Now that we've accomplished that dream and been recording for some indi label out of England and the U.S we are now ready to producce rhythm tracks basically to start working on a compilation project with General Smiley, his son Brandon ( B.B. ) Bennett and some close friends. Here we feature some of our first rhythms produced by General Smiley for RuffCompany Records, some of these were specially mixed by Manwel T. in Malta. and many other engineers across the world Paul Williams aka " Boom Tony" born in Kingston Jamaica in a family with strong musical background so this artiste has been in and around music all his life as his mother, father, sisters, uncle and cousin all sung or played an instrument at some time or another. Boom Tony has been singing in the dance hall and concerts since teenage, he first started recording for his uncle "Mikey Zapow" of the renown Zapow Band he then moved from studio to studio campaigning his career trying to get his own recognition in the industry. In 1990 Boom Tony recorded for producer "Stepper" on the stepper label songs called Dance Pon The Corner , Agony Man , and "Live It Up" to name a few. In 1994 the artiste migrated to the United States with the intention to take his career to higher heights. Soon after arriving in the U.S Boom tony was performing on some of the major festivals and concerts in and around southern and northern California, Florida, Chicago and many other eastern and western cities. In 2000 Boom met up with producer Ade of Adex Records in Hollywood California and recorded "Handle Your Business" on the Unleaded rhythm which went well, this led them to recorded another two songs called "L O V E" and "Pleaser." Presently Boom Tony is busy working on his debut Album called "Top Klass" as he is also producing other artiste with a positive message to the youth on his own label "Repatriation Records" out of California. To the youth of the world today Boom Tony says "seek knowledge by reading more, help to teach yourself by staying positive and you will get positive result. one perfect love for everyone. Anthony Jones ( Mello Banton ) born in Kingston Jamaica. As a youth growing up Mello admired the stlye and lyrics of artiste like Burru Banton, Michigan and Smiley, Yellowman and a lot more prominent Deejays then. His career as an artiste started out in the dance hall era deejaying on a system called Black Hoover, working out alongside artiste like Burru Banton and Kelly Ranks. Mello then moved up to the bigger Stereo One Sound Sytem with deejays like Luitenant Stichie, Wolfman Ricky Stereo and Courtney Melody. In 1983 he then moved on to the studio voicing for producer Newton Merrit and Jimmy Cliff the song called " Ghetto Life ". In 1986 he also worked with producer Bobby Pices on the song called " Brown Skin Ting " wich was released on the Pices Label. Then in 1993 Mello Banton recorded " God Talk " on the Control Tower Label before he went on five years later to work with producer Curtis Mallet and Afrodeziac, releasing songs like " Gi We A Break " " Tell Me Who," " A Little Love feat/singer Melvin Irie. On the Big Link Label he did songs called " My Friend " and " Hunky Punky " Presently Mello is busy working in the RuffCompany Studio on his debute CD " Stay Far " ..ges.myspacecdn.com/images01/44/m_c6699a2cb7abd22e55b9ad2d7 05dd95d.jpg" General Smiley began his career in the late 70s at Studio One under the direction of the late Sir Coxsone Dodd. The Duo Papa Michigan and General Smiley recorded their first number 1 hit Rub A Dub Style , followed by the equally popular Nice Up The Dance. The duo then recorded at Tuff Gong Studio the classic One Love Jamdown, produced by Jahmet Enwright, which was released as a double a-side with Freddie McGregors Jogging. Michigan And Smiley gave a dynamic performance at the annual Reggae Sunsplash Festival in 1981, which led to a debut appearance in the UK where they topped the bill at the Black Echoes Reggae Awards Show. In 1982 Henry Junjo Lawes productions dominated the dancehall introducing current DJs to a wider audience without attenuating the sound. Michigan And Smiley recorded a grim warning to prospective philanderers, Diseases, and the song inspired Yellowman to record an identical version alongside his sparring partner, Fathead. ..ges.myspacecdn.com/images01/64/m_3f7e5437189dc35dca2e28734 a7ba16f.jpg" Throughout the 80s Michigan And Smiley sustained attention in the album charts with the releases Step By Step, Sugar Daddy, Back In The Biz and Reality Must Rule Again. The duo enjoyed a revival in the 90s when some of their earlier hits resurfaced through VP in the USA. Presently Michigan and Smiley still get Together for performances though they both are involve in their respective Projects within the realms of the art. General Smiley has since completed his first solo CD entitled "O.G.S" [ Original General Smiley ] recorded at the Kingston Studio, produced by upfulone Records outside of New Jersey alongside his own production company RuffCompany Records. .........
