I'm just a guy making tapes in my living room in Montreal, Canada... It all started for me in 1995 with a borrowed drum machine, a 60$ guitar and a lot of drugs. When I listen to the music I made back then it seems like centuries ago... but I like listening to my "roots" to remind me that I still have a long way to go. After all this time I still can't read music and I've never played a show or jammed with anyone. I don't even know any musicians... Basically I make music for my own personal consumption. Click to zoom-in.Take your time An essential point about producing a quality tune is the amount of preparation you put in, before you even begin to start. (This is something that I never do.) Take the time to get good samples, and see how they could be made to fit together. You don't have to buy tons of new music, just see what friends or anyone has lying around. (I've never bought a record in my life)Echomania Another way to add a bit of life to a rhythm track made up of individual samples is to echo the entire track. This is a quick way of funking up your percussion, and you can create a great track with only kick, snare, and open hi-hat using only echo. |
