Titi Robin's daughter, she sings and dance "from the cradle". You can hear her voice in Titi's cd "ces vagues que l'amour soulève", "Alezane", "La Mentale B.O.". She learned a lot of songs and dance from Gulabo (Gulabi Sapera) and try now to find her own way. She sings and dance also with the group DUNYA. DUNYA signifie le monde en Arabe, en Hindie, en Ourdou. Cinq musiciens font vivre ce projet actuellement : - Maria Robin : chanteuse, danseuse - Germain Chaperon : guitariste, mandoliniste - Olivier Lechevalier : contrebassiste - Karim Belkhir : percussionniste - David Viala : accordéoniste Le répertoire de ce groupe est constitué de chants traditionnels Kalbeliyas (caste de gitans du Rajasthan), de chants traditionnels roms, de ghazals (poésie classique indienne) et pour finir de rumbas flamencas. De ce mélange est né Dùnya, une musique vivante généreuse et festive qui concilie à la fois la tradition et les compositions. On stage at "La Chapelle" (Montpellier) Photo: Sandrine Herpet LA DANSE KALBELIYA La danse Kalbeliya, appelée également “danse du serpent”, est née au Rajasthan, dans le Nord-Ouest de l'Inde dans la caste des Kalbelyas, ou Saperas, ces nomades qui sillonnent le désert du Thar ou campent à la lisière des grandes villes. A l'origine, la danse de femmes kalbeliyas était une expression collective. Les femmes kalbeliyas pouvaient aller danser en public, à l'extérieur de la communauté, pendant les fêtes de Holi, en groupe, et lors des fêtes au sein de la caste, le visage toujours voilé du foulard “chunni”. La danse Kalbelya que l’on peut voir aujourd’hui sur scène à été développée et popularisée par la danseuse gitane Gulabi Sapera qui a révolutionné la danse des femmes de sa communauté en en faisant une expression individuelle et une forme artistique à part entière... Maria, bercée dès son enfance par les chants rajashanis, a été initiée à la danse kalbeliya par Gulabi Sapera et poursuit sa formation en se rendant régulièrement au Rajasthan pour enrichir son travail artistique.
