Remember this and you wont go wrong.... People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime. When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person. When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be. Then, without any wrong doing on your part or at an inconvenient time, this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end. (by ZO UNIVERSE) Webster defines Peace as: (1) a state of tranquility or quiet — freedom from civil disturbance; security or order within a community; (2) freedom from oppressive thoughts or emotions; (3) harmony in personal relations; (4) a pact or agreement to end hostilities between those who have been at war or in a state of enmity; and (5) used interjectionally to ask for silence or calm or as a greeting or farewell. Worldwide, there are millions of voices — shouting for, working for, praying for and pointing out the need for "peace;" but it is often a fraudulent cry. In crying for peace we often use everything but peace to try and gain it. Peace is as elusive among religious leaders, politicians, ethnic groups, genders and corporations as it is among congregations, media, students, and even this writer's own soul. Not many of us abide in a state of tranquility and quiet, even among our loved ones, co-workers and communities. Civil disturbance is not only out of control physical conflict (bombs and blood) but also harsh judgments, political manipulations, back-stabbing and oppressive working conditions. The worst violence is sometimes that of the tongue and not the gun. How can one promote peace when they are themselves at war? Many of us (who tout, work for, preach and teach peace) unknowingly wage undeclared wars. This world will need a lot of forgiveness to ever reach the peace many crave (but do not indulge in). Justice must be sought on all levels; but our final picture of peace will be painted in a thousand shades of grey because we all see it through different eyes. I am disgusted with the war in Iraq and with war in general. I have a friend who leads an anti-war campaign gaining great momentum. Recently, I had a disagreement with this friend (over a creative issue). When we could not agree, the "friend" called me everything but a child of God and vowed never to speak to me again. How can the campaign my friend leads to stop war be successful, when its leader cannot engage in simple dialogue with a (one-time) friend still working in the same arena? Our battle for peace is both micro and macro. We can rally for peace in the world; but we will never have it until we can achieve it civilly with those near us. Divorcee's must communicate and compromise with former spouses. Abandoned, abused, violated people must bring their assailants to justice; but as they work toward this, they must forgive and set themselves free. I pray that all of us will start our peace campaigns by stopping the verbal wars against others and truly pursue means to heal the sad state of affairs all around us. Can we who seek and love peace think of ways to achieve it without conflict? Not just on a political level, but with our associates, families and personal enemies. Just some thoughts... PEACE!!!!!!!
