Television:Me And My Television-I don't watch that much television either. I usually try to catch the news once a day, will tune into an interesting documentary if I happen to become aware that it's on (i.e. if my husband Joe has tuned in to something interesting) but don't have any regularly scheduled "have to see it or I'll die" kinds of relationships with television programs. I do use television therapeutically when I'm very stressed out...and will self prescribe a television show RX that I know will make me smile. When needed, my current self prescribed tV show RX is "Who's Line is it Anyway"...that show makes me laugh and laugh, never fails...no matter how dark a day I might have had. Previous self prescribed tv show RX's have included: Northern Exposure,Third Rock from The Sun, St. Elsewhere, Soap, Tom and Jerry, The Pink Panther (cartoon), The Lucy Show, The RoadRunner...(gotta love those acme products hey?) |

Books:-My current favorite books are always titles which are related to my obsession of the moment. Often I read them .. these days. My current favs are history books found on Newfoundland and Pictou NS GenWeb sites. Books are also something I self prescribe as a therapeutic RX. I've found some of them become more valuable over time as my life experiences change my interpretations of them. Books of this class in my life include: The Four Loves, C. S. Lewis, Beyond Good and Evil, Friedrick Nietzsche, Kahlil Gibran (various works), Walden, Henry David Thoreau (selected excerpts), Shakespeare (various...but particularly the Tempest). Carlos Casteneda (various); The Way of the Peaceful Warrior, Dan Millman (first edition); Anne Sexton (various), Virginia Woolfe (various) Otone Riccio (various)Favorite escape fiction authors: C.S. Lewis, Doug Adams, and Diana Galbadon. |
