| Hi, I'm the Blue Whale of Catoosa, Oklahoma. I'm 80 feet long! I was built in the early '70s as a surprise anniversary gift. Made of concrete over a welded metal frame, I am considered "one of the world's largest things". There used to be a childrens' zoo here, with boats, lifeguards, and a reptile farm. It all fell into disrepair in the late 1980s, and I was basically abandoned. Fortunately, the citizens of Catoosa cleaned up the park and repainted me in 1997. Once again I'm a popular Route 66 attraction! Come visit me anytime! I'm on the west end of Catoosa, right off Route 66.. | |
