About Me |
|
Organic, progressive Americana. Minimally processed. No added antibiotics, steroids or click tracks. Maybe some hormones.NEW CD "NOT IN THE HOUSE" WILL BE AVAILABLE ON CDBABY BY AUGUST 2008. SWEAR.I have no real 'band bio' but I have been very fortunate that talented people are willing to work with my untrained self. Without their help, I'd still be playing in the basement all alone. Among these are my former bandmates: mis hermanos Ray Villadonga (bass), George Harris (guitar/producer/engineer), and Danny DiPietra (drums) who is also the love of my life. For "Not In The House" I am endebted to the patience and spectrum of musical talents of producer/arranger/engineer Rob Constable (that's Dr. Robert C. Constable, Jr. to you). He can unlike me, read music, and I've seen him write out harmony parts like I would jot down a grocery list. Rob knows what all the knobs and pods are for on the racks of mysterious electronic equipment and computer stuff, where I don't know which end of a cable to plug in. He is also a real composer, whose work has been played at places like Carnegie Hall and the Bonk Festival of New Music. He has taught many a sniveling young undergraduate a thing or two about electronic music. And if that weren't intimidating enough, he is an integral part of the pop band for people who don't like pop music, "Handshake Squad." Rob has made my songs sound better and more organic than they really are. He dragged in people like Dave Rogers to do an accordion or silent trumpet part. And he makes great coffee. Really superb. So I'm fortunate and lucky and very grateful. The Anti-Promotion Somebody told me that if I'm going to make a website, I need to keep doing it. "Update, update, update!" Yawn. And someone else told me that I should be "promoting myself" more. So let's multitask: You might be thinking, why should I listen to Maggie's music? While one side of me immediately responds "got me" with a wide-eyed shrug, the practical side says, well, she's shared stages with nationally and internationally known artists like: Acoustic Alchemy, Joan Armatrading, Steve Earle, John Hiatt, Steve Forbert, Hot Tuna, Robert Earl Keene, Jr., Ronnie Milsap, Maura O'Connell, The Band, Michelle Shocked, Al Stewart, the subdudes, John Wesley, and Warren Zevon Enough about me.
