For the time my profile and my 'pop poetry' piece Bottled was the 'pick of the week' on this page, it was no. 25 on myspace a'capella (above Coolio) and no. 1 for two weeks in Washington D.C.. I have to admit, that was kinda cool and fun. POETRY COMMENTS. In the fall of 2007, she was ranked 3rd of 240 and then 2nd of 50 in an international online spoken word competition. She went to Duke University undergrad and Villanova Law School. Ever since she began her policy work in the late 1990s in Washington DC, nothing is more important to her professionally than the sense she has for protecting her country, and convincing people of what America can and should be-- democratic, yet secure. If we approach government right, we don't have to give anything up for security, but only gain as individuals and as a country. Her work is doing well enough that she gets to travel and do speaking engagements, sometimes in London and other places. She finds that fun, interesting, mind expanding. POETRY ORIGINS.She started writing poetry about two and a half ago after a long hiatus. It is her personal outlet for dealing with immense personal changes in a positive way. She jokes with her friends that it is much more productive and a heck of alot cheaper than therapy. Janice had never shared any poetry with anyone outside of close personal friends before myspace. Her first reluctant postings were in December 2005. In spring 2006, she started featuring my subscribing and other independent musicians with her poetry on her blog. She's been thrilled with the response in both helping promote these worthy musicians and the support she's received for my writing. She later was invited to record-- quite as a fluke-- by a musician friend while in London in August 2006. Slowly she has gathered together the beginnings of spoken word taken to a different level-- with the cadence of music, true music and production from professionals, a delivery that will never be appropriate for 'slam', and what she hopes is a warmth and humanity all can groove to.
