| It was indeed a no-brainer for Youngman to follow on his family’s tradition and be heavily involved in music in some form or fashion. This budding R&B sensation is the son of one of the worlds most prolific Drum n Bass turtablists, Simon ‘Bassline’ Smith who has encouraged his son Simon ‘‘Youngman’ Smith to go ahead and live his dream. Growing up in a household where music was a constant, Youngman has been influenced by the best of the best and has been exposed to extensive genres. This exposure has been embedded in his personality and comes through in his artistry and his creativity.
Youngman exudes harmonic soulful vocals with an incredible range and comprehends that in today’s musical environment you have to be multi-faceted. He has been hitting chords since the age of 5, and by the time he was 12 Youngman received an invitation to become a member of the Music Societies College Youth Theater and Choir program. Utilizing his God given talent and combining it with lessons learned at school and at home Youngman knows where his personality belongs. Many R&B stars today perform songs that truly do not reflect who they are as individuals but this young performer makes it a point to have every word reflect exactly how he’s feeling emotionally about any given topic. . “I believe that to allow my fans to really get to know me, it has to be my stories that I tell and my voice that they hear.” Understanding the fickle industry in which he resides, Youngman exudes persistence and has the acumen to work towards longevity in music beyond just his singing persona. Having relocated from his native Derby to the bright lights of London, Youngman is also studying for a degree in Music Management to further his knowledge and understanding of the business, giving him a foundation to succeed. Possessing such an incredible talent and understanding business, Youngman has already been able to clear certain hurdles and rebound from situations, which require nothing short of a thick skin. Having already been under the guidance of Creative Pursuits, the management company of Mercury Prize Winner Ms. Dynamite, Youngman already has the UK industry tuned into what he is capable of. But Youngman doesn’t plan on being just a ‘home town hero.’ He is going global and having caught the attention of producer Natural, of Canadian based R&B/Hip-Hop production company Natural Born Hustlaz, Youngman has recently signed a production/management deal with the company, thus encouraging an even wider international following. "I've always wanted to develop my own artist and when I heard Youngman’s potential I knew he had all the right ingredients to become a high quality artist. I think his positive attitude, motivation and willingness to always improve will be the key to his success," said producer/manager Natural. It is affiliations like this that have already brought him to the attention of some of the major players on the American music scene too. The infamous mixtape DJ Scream has already tapped into the talent and charisma that this British import possesses, “Youngman is hot I like his style. I think he has the potential to be the next big male R & B superstar." With radio and club singles on the way, Youngman has already established himself as talented, connected and is definitely ready to have his name recognized as the next ‘young man’ to take the charts and the streets by storm.
