| SPECIAL BULLETIN #1:
Pop Go the Beatles next broadcast will be Tuesday 6/10 @ 9:00 PM EST on Real Muzic Web Radio
(www.myspace.com/realmuzicwebradio).
This is another great 2-hour show, called "10 Hours to Number 1". On February 11th 1963 (one year before their appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show) the Beatles spent 10 hours in EMI's Abbey Road Studios recording 10 songs for their 1st U.K. album, Please Please Me. We'll let you be a fly on the wall for those recording sessions as we do an in-depth exploration of those songs and that day. You'll experience the Beatles recording I Saw Her Standing There, There's A Place, Chains, Boys & Baby It's You (both originally recorded by the Shirelles...check out the video below), Anna, A Taste Of Honey and of course, Ferris Bueller's favorite song Twist & Shout. Plus you'll get the story of that day in the studio right from George Martin

Click here for the Ear Candy magazine Review of Pop Go The Beatles SPECIAL BULLETIN #4: I recently uploaded over 25 pictures of Paul McCartney. With permission, they came from Jorie Gracen who is a friend of the show and Paul's personal photographer for many years. Here is one from his 2002 closing night show in Ft. Lauderdale.I also uploaded some amazing pictures taken by Paul Saltzman, another friend of the show who was a guest on 2 shows, and was in India with the Beatles during the summer of 1968. You have to see these photos! Here is one that I have hanging in my den. Cynthia Lennon says it's her all-time favorite photo of John. And a great bunch taken in Germany by Astrid Kirschner. LicensePlate Generator at OurSpace.bizHello and thank you for viewing my profile. I am Woody Lifton and I have a story for you and anyone you know who might be a fan of the Beatles. I began collecting Beatles records in April of 1964 when my grandmother gave me a Beatles LP for my 9th birthday. It turns out that this record was the very first bootleg Beatles LP produced in America. Of course, at the age of 9 I did not have lot of disposable income but did convince my mother to buy me almost every Beatles record that came out. She thought they were cute and harmless because they played "Till There Was You" from The Music Man during their first Ed Sullivan appearance. That appearance would create a firestorm of interest in the Beatles as it was watched by over 70 million Americans and remains the single most watched TV show in US history. Once I had some money I started buying every kind of Beatles record (especially "Beatleg" LPs containing alternate takes or live recordings) that I could find. I was able to put these to good use during my college days. For my senior thesis I created and hosted a 10-part radio show on the history of the Beatles, using a large number of the alternate studio takes and mixes. After college I appeared on Jim Kerr's Saturday Morning Beatle Hour as a guest DJ, where I was able to play a number of these unauthorized tracks. This collecting continues right up to the present. In the early 90s I started collecting interviews and press conferences with the boys. In 2002 I decided that I had enough material to attempt to accomplish one of my dreams. To create a radio show that played no Beatles LP cuts, just alternate studio takes and mixes and live performances (in concert or on radio and TV). To find out how you can get your own copies of this show go to Pop Go The Beatles . But first there had to be a show that was on the air (no major radio network was going to buy and then syndicate an unheard show). So, with the help of my friend Joyce Kaufman (Joyce had been in talk radio and was a DJ for a music station...she had been on the air for over 10 years and was a huge Beatles fan). Like me, she grew up in NY (which we both referred to as Beatles central in the US) and attended their 1965 concert in Shea Stadium. Once she agreed, I bought time on her station (WJNA in FT Lauderdale). The show was going to be 2 hours so I bought 2 hours for 22 weeks. Then I had to write the shows, put the music together, interview clips, interviews with people like Bruce Spizer (author of 6 books on The Beatles and their records), Andrew Croft (the publisher of Beatlology Magazine), Paul Saltzman (author of The Beatles in India) and sell ad space to cover my costs. All the scripts, clips and music were put together on my home computer. But once we got into a professional studio, with real equipment, a professional producer and my stuff, something happened. We put together the best Beatles radio show ever produced. It was great and each show (as I gained experience and confidence in what I was creating) got better and more interesting. And the feedback was incredible. Chuck Zinc (longtime South Florida TV and radio personality) told me that he was late for a meeting because he refused to get out of his car while the show was on. And that was just the tip of the iceberg. As the show grew in popularity I was able to cover my costs with advertising and was now ready to try and get it syndicated. I first talked to my friend Peter Baron who worked with MTV. He loved the show and hoped that we could get it syndicated by the Infinity Broadcasting Network, an offshoot of MTV's mother company. He arranged for one of their programming directors to listen to the show and he loved it. One problem, with all the unauthorized material there was no way they could put it on the air. OK, so next we try Sirius Satellite radio. Satellite is kind of pay per view and if Howard Stern could say whatever he wanted we figured that we could play anything we wanted...AND WE WERE RIGHT. Except with Satellite radio if you want to play more than 2 songs in a row from the same group, you have to get permission from the group. Which means we would need the approval of Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Olivia Harrison and Yoko Ono. These 4 can't agree on what shape the table should be at Apple's board meetings let alone to allow an obscure radio show to go on the air. So after 5 years, a few thousand dollars spent, as well as thousands of man hours (MINE) wasted, I have decided to try one last avenue to get this show out to the public. In the past I have had some success selling shows on EBAY and so I'm trying to sell these shows direct to the public. Each show is commercial free and 2 hours long. Each show comes on 2 high quality CDs (21 shows: 42 CDs) and shipping is FREE with every order. You can go directly to my website Pop Go The Beatles for all the info you need on the shows themselves (there is a brief description of most of the shows) and how to order. This show has been a huge labor of love for me and I am selling the copies at a very reasonable cost. So if you love the Beatles or know of a Beatles fan, check out my show. I promise you or your friend will be astonished at all that you did not know about the Beatles music. Thanks for taking the time to read this lenghty profle.
