The duo (bass/mix) belongs to an electro dub style of its own, which was developped along its different creations and lives. Coming with the two Lp’s realised with the label from Paris, Hammerbass, their productions can also be found on more than twenty compilations in France or abroad, resulting from many artistic collaborations with some of the main activists of the international dub scene: Zion Train, Alpha & Omega, Vibronics, The Disciples, Alter Echo, Mossman, Spectre, Scorn... In 2006, the project took a new direction with the release of the third album : Spoken Dub Manifesto, produced by Jarring Effects. An ambitious piece of work, recorded with none the less than eleven vocalists, gathered here around a spoken word concept, confirming the emotional and special way that Brain Damage has to produce dub, hereafter unique. More than ever the duo affirms its identity trough its choices, sometimes drastic, of concepts, collaborations, mixes or masterings. Likewise the mythic american band, Brain Damage developes a reflection about emergency, frustration and intensity: everything has to be said in a minimum of time. To achieve this, none of the 24 tracks of this project will exceed 2 minutes. A rather atypical direction for the band who is still wearing an electro dub tag: once more, for their fourth album, the duo is to be found where no one expected them. Certain choices, however, remain the same, like the will to keep the studio experiments on the cerebral and ambient side, on the opposite of the sensorial raw energy of the live. On stage, the deliberately amputed tracks of this "skipping project", will be further developed in lenght. A l'image du mythique groupe américain, Brain Damage développe ici une réflexion sur l'urgence, la frustration et l'intensité: tout devra être dit en un minimum de temps. Pour cela, aucun des 24 titres de ce projet ne dépassera la durée de deux minutes. Une orientation pour le moins atypique pour ce groupe, toujours estampillé electro-dub, même si la palette de styles représentés ici s’est encore élargie par rapport aux albums précédents . On passe progressivement d’un folk psychédélique « floydien », à une sorte d’électro-techno minimal, via un trip hop énigmatique, sans oublier le dub digital qui a contribué à faire la réputation du duo lors des deux premiers albums. Une seule certitude, Brain Damage, fait du Brain Damage… Si une fois de plus, pour ce 4ème album, nous retrouvons le duo là où on ne l'attendait pas, certains choix restent néanmoins constants, comme celui de préserver le côté cérébral et ambient des expérimentations studio, en opposition à l'énergie brute et sensorielle dégagée en concert. Sur scène, les morceaux volontairement amputés de ce projet-zapping, seront plus amplement développés dans le temps..." Le « spoken word » y tient une place prépondérante, décliné ici en sept langues : français, anglais, bosnien, catalan, polonais, arabe et allemand. On retrouvera évidemment Black Sifichi, invité permanent, accompagné du Real Fake MC, déjà présent sur l’album « Wave digger » de High Tone, Mohammed El Amraoui (Maroc) et Giovanni Marks (USA), déjà présents sur « Spoken dub manifesto », ainsi que des artistes rencontrés par le duo lors de ses récentes tournées dans les pays de l’est : Priest Maken (Joint Venture Sound system – Pologne), ou encore Asmir Sabic (Vuneny-Bosnie). On remarquera également la présence d’Angeline Bouille, chanteuse lyrique aux multiples facettes, ainsi qu’une étonnante fraicheur apportée par Lamija, fillette de 6 ans, native de Sarajevo.
