As a vague smear of sound which ceased in the year 2000, helenfordsdale were obviously a product of millenial angst: once it became clear that world would not be ending anytime soon, helenfordsdale quietly died, their only acheivement being ... Which comes first, the name or the named? A misspelt song title from a music magazine (who in the world gave a fuck about MARS in '93?), perhaps serving as a metaphor for that which cannot be named? For the sign that has no referent? "I promise to pay the bearer the sum of..." nothing that actually exists, nothing corporeal. Was I there? |
