| Draugnim was formed in 1999, when Morior and Chimedra joined forces to record Draugnim's first demo "The Paynim Crusade". A couple of dozen demos were handed out to various people. Soon after Turms was recruited to take care of the bass and Raakalainen joined for drums and we were ready to head to the studio for the second time in 2001. Too bad we had an inexperienced sound-engineer who had never before done anything related to metal and too little time, so the result was a rushed 3-song demo called "Past Aesirs Grace". Again, only a few copies were handed out. After that we recruited Nanda to play the synths for us and in 2002 we entered the studio for the third time to record "Earth gave us birth, our blood we give in return" -demo. This time we had better gear and an engineer with a more professional approach and the result was a lot better than the previous efforts. We played a couple of gigs the following year and a half, but then things changed radically as we had to sack Nanda and our drummer moved out to another city to study and so we couldn't rehearse that much anymore. Soon after a sewer next to our training grounds broke up and all the shit and dirt and water flooded in wrecking not only ours, but several other bands' gear too. The water company refused to pay for the damage. Screw them! Our motivation went down the pipes and even though we got to new grounds, we really didn't rehearse after 2004. Raakalainen wanted to move on and he left us to play for other bands, first in Elenium and now in Exsecratus. For us it has been somewhat silent for the last couple of years, but things are starting to look brighter now and we are preparing to record our fourth demo somewhere in 2007. Until then. | |
