Not because I have a new found talent, but because I was not able to focus on anything other things beside raising my 5 children for many years, of which only 2 remain home age 17 and 13. Ahhh... And working as An Addiction Counselor over 12 years! Though I’ve been substance free 14 years." "I never entirely feel far removed from the experience because of the swift and profoundly devastating mark it made on my soul." A native of Connecticut, Vivian now “Celebrates Life” on the West Coast. She has provided Music Therapy to Treatment Facilities and in other venues over 10 years on the East and West Coast. Vivian is a small town country girl at heart with “alotta’ soul!”"Being a single parent is and was difficult. But by Gods grace and lots of prayer and tears, I am proud of a job well done. Growing up, life was hard. I survived a lot of ugly days but I survived through using drugs, and becoming an over-achiever, workaholic, and Faith in a Higher Power. I had a 2 1/2 year crack cocaine addiction. Prior to that i dabbled here and there with marijuana, alcohol and pills. Mostly due to peer pressure and some secret death wish. Life was hard the only coping skill I had was prayer, thank God for that! I don’t say “I’m an addict” or, a “recovering addict anymore!” I have firmly come to believe that "we are not our afflictions!" Unless we believe so!" This music not only helps the person addicted understand his plight through the eyes of someone who has shared experiences, it is also geared to impact and inspire everyday people and give them an inside look and clarify the struggle of those who are currently entangled with abusing alcohol or other substances. This music is for everyone who has ever been, seen or tried drugs and alcohol and for those who have ever even thought of or are thinking of it. The “Faces Of Addiction” are ugly! Using drugs starts as fun, then turns into fun with problems. And then, just the problems stand in the place where the “fun” use to be, laughing at you in the face! One may wonder how a man or woman can reach this desolate and barren place of hopelessness. This place of demarcation marks the difference between truly living and mere existence or, merely existing. Pain and loss of determination destroy our will to live, therefore making addiction possible, even so, making it a necessity of existence for the hopeless. Hopelessness occurs when a man, woman or child, or even a suffering animal goes from a deliberate choice to live to succumbing or giving up in his life. Seeing it as a challenge, he cannot win. His failures, pains and disappointments have outweighed his joys, his pleasures. One of the 12 Promises of AA, NA, CA and the like is, “We Will Know a New Peace and a New Freedom.” And, “we will come to intuitively know how to handle the challenges in our life that use to baffle us. Using the 12 Step Program, these things have happened for me and countless others who have thoroughly followed this path. Full consciousness and hope for the future as well as in the now, return. The man or woman regains control of his life. He or she is able to live again, experiencing joy and happiness. There is a way to make peace with our pains and disappointments.
