| I've been chasing the enigmatic sounds of music like a kite flying around my head longer than my memory stretches back. All my thought processes have been reflected in the music and all the very talented people I've encountered along the way.
Like everyone's journey, I've been influenced by those I've been so fortunate to surround myself with, those dearest, the wealth of musicians on the Melbourne scene, audience, artists known and unknown. If there's been any constant in my output it's been about the dialogue going on at the time...looking for a piece of truth and beauty. I hope you hear something you can dig and come back and visit from time to time... THE TIMELINE: - 2008 - Co-write So Much Beauty which is released as the title track to Kate Ceberano's album release for this year. Produce E.P for The Last Five Minutes, picked up on the JJJ Unearthed websight. Guest performance for launch at the St.Kilda festival. Further guest performance on Kill Whitey PBS live-to-air E.P launch. - 2007 - Production continues on K.C side project with input from the Wonderfulls + Paul Richards. Bindy continues session work with Ginja Roe , Matthew travels and Clinton sowing music (and other) seeds! - Mid 2006 - The United States Of Your Soul is released to much fanfare on the Melbourne scene. The Wonderfulls do a string of shows. Film maker, Gene Geoffrey directs the video for Black Is The Colour which is aired on SBS's Noise TV and available on YouTube...... - Another side - In the meantime Dallas continues further session work including performers such as Ms K.C & Aaron Choulai. From the same album, the track Melted is selected for the defining scene in the indie film Something To Believe In featured at Tropfest 2005......Co production for the From Hell E.P, Destruct Tonight...... - The Wonderfulls - After doing promotional work in Europe, Dallas returns to Australia with a new sound in mind...The Wonderfulls is born, continuing work with Matthew (guitar), Bindy (drums again!) and Wally Rankin (guitarist From Hell). 2005 recording begins in earnest for the new album...... - The new Millenia...Astrolab - Dallas goes solo to explore further into production and composition. The debut album, Walking Home is released independantly. Teaming up on the recording sessions including Paul Richards and Matthew Shadwick. Touring band, Astrolab added Philip Smith (bass), Evan Englezos (keys/guitar) and Gere Seren (drums)...... - Mid 90's - Dallas begins composing with Susan Hume for her coming outfit, Creature Seed. Bindy joins this line up with Gerry Keyes and Peter Allan. Two EP's receive critical praise; Four Shades Of Blue and Creature Seed (self titled). Both are produced by Simon Segal who will go on to forge creative production on future albums... - Early 90's - Form Silent Poets with guitarist, Mark Hughes. Paul Richards departs and line up comes together with Bindy Cohen...... - Formative years - Along with drummer Paul Richards, formed and disbanded various troupes including Miss Conspiracy and Collected Thoughts. |
