| Chango is a first generation Chicano, born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio. He grew up in the heart of the Hip-Hop community, in the area known today as Ohio City. Home to graffiti artists, dj's, mc's, breakdancers and gang bangers in the late eighties. While still in grade school, Chango was given a pair of old dusty turtables, a Radio Shack mixer and began scratching records. Inspired by only one ablum, Run DMC's "Rock Box," Chango wrote his first song at age 10. For the next several years, chango continued to develop his skills, recording demos at house studios and performing at house parties and street corner freestyle sessions. Later, artist such as Kid Frost, Aztlan Nation and Cypress inspired Chango to take his talent to the next level. He began recording at professional studios. Chango recorded and independently released two albums, "Darkside of the Barrio" and "Grito de Guerra." With the release of these two albums, chango began performing on a regular basis at venues throughout Ohio. He opened for Molotov in '06 and headlined at the Cleveland Music Festival's hip-hop show. Chango then took some time off to begin working on his next project. During this time Chango's music was featured on several Mixes by DJ Payback Garcia. Chango traveled to Spontaneous Studios and recorded a track with Payback called "Big Bad Pachuco" for the Aztec Souls Volume 2 compilation. Several months later, a rough copy of the nearly finished album found it's way into the hands of Skribe of Kinto Sol. As a result, Chango singed to the Atraco Music record label. Chango's new album "DESMADRE" will be released late this summer under the Atraco Music label. chango is also featured on the latest DJ Payback Garcia mixes "Amor Azteca 3" in stores now, and on the upcoming "Almas" compilation with the exclusive song "Payaso."
