The Burbs Western Sydney Youth Festival is an outdoor music, sports and arts event that will run annually as part of the National Youth Week program in April. The Burbs is a non-profit initiative by Blacktown City Council, Blacktown Youth Service Association (BYSA) , Emerton Youth Recreation Centre, Holroyd Youth Services, (HYS) Hyland Road Youth Centre and the Western Area Adolescent Team (WAAT). The festival boasts local and well-known performances on a variety of stages. In addition there are plenty of competitions, activities, features, games, market and info stalls, food and rides that are included to put together a fun-filled day for all youth free of admission charges. The festival is proudly a drug and alcohol free event. We envision the event to become a major vehicle to promote and create awareness of contemporary social issues related to young people and have proudly turned this event into an eco friendly carbon neutral festival.
