Official name: Tyloburdo (Udmurtian: “Fiery Wing” or “Bird”) Established: autumn 1999 Place: Izhevsk, Udmurtia, Russia Style: development of ethnic traditional music, folk and ethno-jazz Repertoire: Udmurtian Krezsh’ songs (a unique style of ritual Udmurtian singing), Russian folk songs of different regions as well as folk songs of other countries (Georgia, England, Ireland, France, Jamaica, Finland), popular songs in ethnic arrangement (The Beatles, Bob Marley, The Doors, Zap Mama, etc.) as well as the songs of Russian bard singers. Instruments: Wind instruments: flutes, ocarinas, pan-flutes, Turkish flute, kaliuka, vargan, harmonica, panpipe, zhaleyka Percussion: drums, xylophone, tsimbaly, glockenspiel, bells, treschiotka, shakers, “rain stick”, maracas, castanets, zel-zel, Egyptian and Indian ankle bells Keyboards Strings: fretless bass, banjo, mandolin, violin, etc. The ethnic line is a guiding star of the group. It brings us back to the culture origins, to the search of the prints of various musical traditions in themselves, in each other and in the environment, thus producing some new interesting musical forms and sounds. The particular sound of Tyloburdo includes the vocal remakes that use abundant voice abilities. The instrumental themes and remakes are also elaborated. The musicians are noted for their desire to master an unusual instrument (competingly) and to teach the others to play it afterwards.
