Everybody is sick and tired of boasting ordinary things and making them look desirable. But does it mean that the words “first” and “only” cannot be used without exposing oneself to the suspicion of the audience? If we present proven and undisputable facts, it ceretainly doesn’t. Only such facts can be mentioned when talking about Pawel Mazur, a DJ whose stage name is Optymist. This exceptionally cheerful young man with an appropriate nickname is the only Polish artist to have become a member of the prestigious Ecler Pro Team (www.eclerdjdivision.com). Being in one crew with Ricardo Villabos, Luciano, Mistress Barbara, Satoshi Tomii, Funk D’Void and Antoine Clamaran is quite an achievement. These are just a few artist from Ecler Pro Team who make the hearts of electronic music fans beat faster. Optymist is also a co-founder of Camdentown Crew, which is the first group of sponsored DJ's in Poland. This enterprise is yet another proof of Pawel's skill in both mixing and organization of club life. He has been active in this field since his early years, so a school of music was a natural choice for his further education. An extraordinary person, however, cannot become an ordinary student. In other words, Pawel bought a pair of turntables, a mixer, and headphones instead of the usual contrabass or a trombone. Initially his interests involved hip hop which, after a couple of years, evolved into a fascination with electronic music. He transferred all his skills acquired during playing the demanding hip hop music into it. A perfect technique and a love for scratches became Optymist’s trademarks, which he successfully implements into tech house, minimal, pumpin and tribal techno. Mixing of styles and techniques became his daily bread, so in 2003, together with a drummer Tomasz Deutryk and a congo player Grzegorz Drozd, he founded Intrus Group Optymist started event organization in his home town Swidnik in 1999. Soon, his skills and effort were appreciated by a music magazine “XL”, which described his work in an article titled “The best organization of parties in 2001”. Although the praise was stimulating, Optymist did not need additional encouragement. He manages perfectly both around Poland and in the Lublin region. Optymist has performed in almost every corner of Poland. In addtion, he has played abroad both in clubs and during festivals. The most important were Delahoya in Romania, Fett Techno in Germany, Dukes in London, Soundtropolis and Creamfields in Poland.The full list of artists he performed with is too long to present, but it includes such artists as Richie Hawtin, Dave Clarke and Fergie.
