About Me |
|
| Once upon a time, a young girl decided to write a poem. "I love like I love. I hate like I hate. It makes no difference what you think of me for my freedom trails behind me." Her third grade teacher really dug it so she started calling herself a writer. Time passed and others were not as complimentary. She stopped writing for a long season. Then lots and lots of bad things started happening. So she started writing again in an effort to understand herself and the situations. She shared these new poems and the people liked them. They liked them so much that she decided to put out a CD.That young girl was Rhonda Welsh. Her first CD dropped in September 2006. Now she travels the countryside (or at least the streets of southeastern Michigan) discussing her thoughts, feelings and revelations about Christ and her walk with him. Along the way she discusses sex, eating disorders, gossip, confusion, politics, happiness, purpose and a bunch of other stuff. Her work has been heard at the Detroit Opera House, the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA), the Museum of African American History, Campus Martius, the Ford Community and Performing Arts Center, churches, coffee houses and a host of other venues. In November 2007, she was the only poet featured during the DIA's Re-Opening.She is currently living happily ever after.WEBSITE: WWW.RHONDAWELSH.COMJOIN THE MAILING LIST FOR NEWS & UPDATES! |
