Some of it might not fit the orthodox rockabilly formula (Champagne Wine And Cigarettes is swinging late-nite jazz, Nobody’s Girl has a Hammond organ), but it hangs together nicely. The guitar work is excellent throughout and there’s a sense of humour at work here – one song’s called You Smell Like My Ex, and there’s a co-production credit for JR Hartley. Good natured uptempo country boppers such as One Hit Wonder would have gone down well at the Opry circa 1958, as would Too Gone For Too Long, while Out With The In Crowd is pure class.- - Max Décharné.
