She was Miss El Paso at one time, and went on to become the first latino to be crowned Miss USA in 1985. Laura is also a Countess. At her first Oscar appearance, she wore shoes worth 1,000,000. She has been in numerous movies (see the movie section), most known however for the 2001 David Lynch film "Mulholland Drive", in which she was involved in a little love scene with Naomi Watts.
