YES I am a producer...eh hem...a female producer that is. I go by Melania (yes like Trumps' wife) or Ching Ching (long story) I absolutely love what I do. Producing.....the core of my creativity. From laying down that first sound to finalizing the project. MUSIC IS MY PASSION. It all started for me (the short version that is) during piano lessons when I absolutely hated to use the lesson book but preferred to play the song by ear. Mrs. Earle said I needed to know how to READ notes. Piano lessons did not last long but little did I know music would come around in a bigger and better way. WHAT YOU see now took 9 loooong years! I always found comfort in knowing that doing music was my destiny but it did not come easy at all. I was born and raised in Panama City, Panama where the sun shines 24/7 and the radio plays solely reggaeton, salsa, merengue, tipico, r&b, alternative rock, Casey Kasem's Top 40 (came on EVERY sunday on our only english radio station), 80's hits, and reggae. I looked forward to my summers, that meant I would be in New York....where Hip Hop was played nonstop. I was immediately hooked. My earliest recollection would be a "music video" my cousins and I did to Rob Base's "It Takes Two". Ok. Maybe that was tmi. SO after moving to the A I became extremely motivated. I interned at Hot 107.9. Soaked it all in. Networked. Left Hot 107.9 and got a gig at Def Jam South. The best experience ever. I've laughed, yelled, cried, screamed, lost friends, lost money, to get where I am at now. Many ups and downs but GOD has kept me on a steady path. THAT BEING SAID I thank everyone who has had any part in where I am at now. I am nowhere near where I want to be...that is until I make history. |
